ON-CAMERA ACTING CLASSES FOR ADULTS IN HOUSTON

Since 2003, Next Actor Studio, a  SAG-AFTRA signatory company, has been training on-camera acting to beginners and professional actors of Houston. It is the only Studio in Texas that teaches Stanislavski Method Acting to adults and teens of different levels. 

On-Camera Acting Classes are held for pre-teens, teens, and adults at our serene West University/Rice Village location in Houston. Beginners and Professional actors can choose from different levels listed below. Contact us via email or phone if you  are not sure about the level that's correct for you.

BEGINNERS : For Students who have lot of love for the craft but zero experience or training, the beginners'  classes are the most logical place to start building your career.  

These classes focus on instilling the dos and donts of on-camera acting, Technical aspect of film and TV acting, difference of theatre vs film,  Through scene breakdown and script analysis, students learn to memorize the text comfortably.  The session also trains students with Audition Techniques, Improvisation, Scene and Monologue Study, and discusses the Business side of Acting including casting calls, agency submission, resume template,  SAG-AFTRA eligibility, working in union/non-union works etc.  

INTERMEDIATE : Students with some training and/or experience, are more suitable for this session, in which they hone their beginners' skills, and achieve more confidence and comfort in front of the camera and a classroom full of audience This session is perfect for students who are very serious about this craft, but still need more practice to work with longer scripts and more experienced classmates. Students learn to apply Stanislavski Method to  their homeworks and cold readings.  

NON BEGINNERS :  Students in this session have enough training to start handling longer, more challenging materials, and learn to tackle different aspects of acting on-camera, such as continuity, blocking, emotions, choices, nuances etc. Students learn to understand the director on set and during audition, and start applying the Method to their work.   

INTENSE :  As the title suggests, this session forces students to come out of their comfort zone, and challenge them to use their instincts and intuitions. This class is highly advanced and cater mostly to  professional actors. Current students must be approved into this session.  New Students need to send a performance video (or their demo reel) to get approved. 

IMPROVISATION AND SCENE STUDY :  Students get a 4-week workshop with character improvisation for drama and comedy. This session is recommended for students who battle with their nerves and have difficulty going beyond the text in their scripts.
